We had a jampacked day today!! We started with morning devotions and breakfast at the hotel in La Ceiba. We shared first impressions, discussed what surprised us so far and identified where God has already been working. Pastor Henry, his wife Xenia, and her sister Cindy joined us for breakfast.

We breakfast we had the choice of pancakes, an omelet or the “typical” Honduran breakfast - consisting of refried beans, an egg, a salty cheese called queso con fresco, sour cream and a tortilla.

After breakfast we drove a few minutes to the church in La Ceiba. This was the very first church the Valley helped build back in 2014.

We setup for our first vacation Bible school of the week. We worshiped with the kids using the 50+ puppets our families and friends graciously donated!!
Then Dana, our local missionary, shared a Bible story about how a Jesus feed the 5,000. We handed our ritz crackers and goldfish to represent loaves of bread and fish discussed in the story.
After the story, the kids did a relay race!
At the end of VBA we send the kids home with a toy and a treat. This year the treat is American cookies and the toy is a custom made 3D printed tic-tac-toe board my husband made with crosses and Jesus fish as the game pieces. It was moving to see the kids receive the gift and play with their friends!
A trip to La Ceiba is not complete without a visit to the firetruck! This firetruck was donated by the Valley and is the only running firetruck in the city of La Ceiba (4th largest city in Honduras - approximately the size of Dayton), and the bombaros (firefighters in Spanish) were ecstatic we can come. We have a small team still with the bombaros as they try to troubleshoot an issue with the truck.
After our visit with the bombaros, we got lunch and headed 2+ hours to Saba. The rain has done trumendous damage to the main road and we dodged very deep potholes the whole way. Some views along the at are below.
After checking into our hotel in Saba, we went to Pastor Henry’s church for Sunday services. Man it was so powerful!! For 2 hours, we worshipped and we were blessed to hear Rob jive talk on “spreading a little Jesus”. He did a remarkable job and once I’m back in he states, I’ll try to upload a video!
After service we ate a late dinner and tried to quickly get to bed because tomorrow we are painting a bridge!.
Ware punching holes in the darkness! God bless!
