We made it!

The second leg of our flight was much less eventful than the first. We landed in Honduras without an issue. We were impressed to see the number of improvements made to the airport since last year and were pleasantly surprised to wait the 45+ minute customs line in the AC!
We were all anticipating if our luggage made it or not because 90% of us had to check our carry-ons to our final destination - a recipe for lost luggage in the past and no clothes for days. Thank the good Lord, every single piece of luggage arrived!! With 40+ pieces of checked luggage and 25+ checked carry-ons, the odds were not good, but our God is!!
We were slightly delayed leaving the airport because the customs workers were fascinated with the contents of our luggage and when they open the bags that contained the jaws of life for the Le Ceiba fire department, it was a spectacle. After multiple phone calls, emails and translated conversations later, all of our luggage was cleared - another blessing!
We drive 30 minutes to eat in El Progresso - a suburb of San Pedro Sula - to experience our first American meal - Burger King! While we are here we will eat plenty of authentic cuisine, but on the first long travel day, the leadership gives us grace and doesn’t ask us to try something new and foreign to us. We took over Burger King and walked away with a few kings!
Once our bellies were full, we settled in for a 3 hour bus ride to our hotel for the night in La Ceiba. Hondaras had been getting a lot of rain and the roads have sustained damage - washing out large portions of it - creating a slower and swervier commute. But nonetheless, we took in the breathtaking views of the mountains and the humbling views of Honduran living.
After 21+ hours of traveling, we arrived at our hotel for the night. The team worked together to unloaded all of the luggage and resort it for tomorrows vacation Bible school at the church here in La Ceiba and our first trip to the fire station!
The fun and the blessings have just begun and I’m so thankful to have the opportunity to bring you along on this incredible journey!
Buenas noches y que Dios te bendiga!
(Good night and God bless!)
